Seven Reasons Why Best Robot Vacuum That Mops Is Important
The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops
Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He evaluates and tests cleaning equipment. His main focus is mopping and robot vacuum combinations. Multitaskers can be ideal for those who want to eliminate mopping from their list of tasks. They are equipped with impressive mapping capabilities and obstacle avoidance, and some even wash and refill their mopping pads to ensure a hands-free clean.
The Eufy S1 Pro
This is the model you need to choose if you want an automatic vacuum cleaner that can also mop. It’s smaller than the other models on this list, making it easier to maneuver into tight corners and underneath furniture. It uses a 220 degree lidar, which when combined with its 3D Matrix camera system gives it some of the most effective navigation and object avoidance I’ve ever seen in a robotic vacuum. It’s got a battery of 4600mAh which can last up to 170 mins when cleaning and sucking are set to standard mode. (It can run longer on turbo). It will even return to the dock to replenish its battery part way through a clean.
It’s fast and does a fantastic job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It cleans the carpeted areas extremely quickly, and hardwood floors in the living room, and hallways in a single pass. Its suction motor of 8,000pa is quick at picking up dirt, crumbs and pet hair. Carpet detection automatically increases power when it detects rugs, and the dual side brushes help to clean debris from corners.
The mopping performance, though still impressive, isn’t as good. The mop rotates at a high velocity and it pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, effortlessly scraping away dirt and staining. I’ve noticed that the front arm protrudes out a little more than other robots. This is helpful when you’re trying to get into tight corners or along baseboards. The front arms can be used to clean larger pieces of debris, such as broken toys and fallen books.
Another good thing is that the S1 Pro is one of the quietest robot vacuums and mop I’ve tried. It doesn’t make the same volume of sound when mopping or vacuuming, and is quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it has to use a mopping solution that is proprietary and is sold separately. It’s easy to install and performs well however it’s something you’ll have to keep an eye on when you purchase this vacuum for the sole reason of mopping.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from most robot vacuums that mops in its class. It is equipped with a broad array of features that make it a great choice for homeowners who want an extremely efficient, flexible, and customizable cleaning machine.
The device has an impressive and powerful cleaning system that combines LiDAR sensors with an RGB camera to map your home and locate furniture and other obstacles. This information can be used to clean intelligently and efficiently. This will result in an efficient, consistent clean that’s also fairly fast.
In terms of mopping, the Q Revo’s DuoRoller mop pads are capable of reaching an array of surface areas. This includes baseboards, corners and other hard to reach areas. They also come with a stretchy side brush that extends to reach the floor near walls and other fixtures. In addition the mop pads can be dried and washed to prevent build-up and reduce the odors.
App-based customization is another notable feature. The Q Revo allows you to adjust the strength of suction, and choose between a back-andforth, or a more random pattern. You can also choose the number of passes, which determines how fast it can move around your home. You can also turn off the side brush in order to prevent damage to carpets and carpets.
This device is expensive however it has many useful features. It is important to note, however, that the device will incur recurring expenses in the form mopping supplies and regular maintenance. For instance brushrolls need to be replaced every six to twelve months or after 300 hours. The filter will need to be cleaned after 150 hours and the mop pad should be replaced every three to six months.
This robot vacuum mop has a high Amazon rating and comes with many physical automation features. The robot vacuums that mop vacuum also has an energy button that doubles as a ‘Clean button’ and a ‘Home button that allows it to go back home after cleaning. It also has a multi-functional dock that automatically emptys the dustbin, refills its water tank for mopping and washes and dries its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you’re a busy professional or someone who just wants an organized home that doesn’t require much time doing chores, the Shark Matrix Plus is a solid option. Its powerful performance, intelligent navigation, and long battery life allow you to maintain a clean house with little effort.
The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop that is, it can do mopping and vacuuming. The robot comes with two modules: a combined dry bin and water reservoir and a separate mopping module with a microfiber pad that snaps into and out of position. It’s not the most modern thing to have separate modules for vacuuming and mopping but it does mean that you don’t need to worry about changing the bags for disposables or refilling the tank of water.
The Matrix Plus performed well at vacuuming and mopping. Its best feature was its accurate map of your floorplan which it uses to draw the path to follow when cleaning. This made it a breeze for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture carpets, rugs, and other obstacles. The app also offers the option to set “No-Go zones” as well as virtual barriers, which help to shield certain areas of your house from being cleaned with mop.
The Matrix Plus also did a surprising job of collecting pet hair. It was able capture many of the hair sheds from our cats. It even made it into the nooks and crannies of our stairs where other robots struggled. It was fairly silent and also had a few lovely jingles to signalled when it was about to start or completing its task.
The app was too basic and you had to switch the modules each time you changed between vacuuming and mopping. The app can’t keep multiple maps. This could be an issue if your house has a variety of floors. The Matrix Plus robot is a great choice for those who want a smart device that can vacuum and mop.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni robot vacuum is the most expensive in our review. However, it does have some unique features which make it worth considering. The X1 Omni is notable for its huge dock that doubles as a charging base for the robot, a cleaning sink and two water tanks of 4 liters. It also houses two bins: a 2.5-liter dustbin and a 2.5 dust bin that is 2.5 liters.
The base also comes with a set of control buttons that allow you to manually start a cleaning task, recall the robot, or start the dock’s auto-emptying process. Press two of the buttons to toggle the child lock which is a great feature for parents who are worried about their children playing with the vacuum.
The Omni Omni, like other robotic vacuums, utilizes its camera to detect obstacles and furniture that are in its path. It will avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.
The X1 can be prone to become stuck if it is entangled in a blockage like a power cable draped over a rug. It will not work until you manually untangle it. This was a rare occurrence however it was frustrating since the X1 does not have a “stuck status” alert in its app.
The X1 Omni is unable to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming mode during the cleaning process. You’ll need to manually switch between the two modes, which isn’t that bad, except that the mopping pad isn’t cleaned or dried between use. This can cause mildew and mold.
The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who designed its sleek, modern base and mopping pad. It’s a big difference from the utilitarian black bases of competitors like Roborock or iRobot. It’s also an impressive sight in a market dominated by clunky boxy models.
